My place on Earth
In a parallel assignment, we designed a square that takes advantage of the area’s qualities and enhances them, creating a safe, attractive and living space for Hammarkulle residents.
With a simple and clear structure, a focus on security and flexible content, we present: My place on Earth – a proposal with deep roots in Hammarkullen, its history, earlier initiatives and a range of dialogues with residents. The ambition is to create social and commercial benefit, and benefit and joy for the individual.
A social perspective
The square is intended to contribute to helping people meet and feel welcome. It should be attractive, increase attractiveness and contribute a sense of security, pleasure and pride.
In concrete terms we aim to create a visionary central structure, increase the number of homes and improve the conditions for commerce and service, while developing the park structure. Our proposal contains a large grocery shop, other shops, a market hall, cafés, restaurants, a healthcare centre with child health centre, housing for the elderly and 110 flats of different sizes.
Climate balancing
The new construction is tailored for flexibility in its dimensions and construction, and for different functions over time. Buildings that last over time create good conditions for the district to develop as the buildings do. The constructions are optimised for a high proportion of timber, and we are planning green roofs, solar cells and a large share of reused construction material to further reduce the district’s climate impact.
