Slussen's new bus terminal
Flexible Hub for All Värmdö and Nacka Residents
Slussen is, and will continue to be, an important hub in the capital. Extensive work is underway to improve transportation to and from Slussen, as well as to develop the area as a destination in its own right. The new bus terminal in Katarinaberget is a key part of solving the public transport connection for the benefit of the entire area.
The work on the bus terminal is extremely complex and has placed high demands on technical coordination. Together with WSP, we have developed a new bus hall inside Katarinaberget, featuring a new entrance hall connected to the subway, a concourse level, and a waiting area. Inside the mountain, many layers of life will coexist: a complicated traffic system alongside an active meeting and working space. This places exceptional demands on logistical flows, traffic, accessibility, ventilation, acoustics, and safety. Surrounding this multifunctional interior, we are creating a warm and welcoming space for busy Stockholmers.
The new bus terminal is being built with a separate waiting hall, isolated from the bus traffic, providing a more comfortable, quieter, and safer environment for travelers. The terminal is divided into two areas: one for arrivals with space for 6 buses, and one for departures with 17 platforms.
The project is under construction and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025.
