Innovative environment for entrepreneurship
The senior living community on Fyrkildevej is a new innovative health centre that offers inventive housing with a focus on entrepreneurship. The common areas tie the homes together and provide space for work and a strong community.
New housing forms
In the decades to come, massive investments in hospital, university and light railways will improve the whole of eastern Aalborg and create renewed dynamics and growth. The Himmerland housing community has chosen to actively participate in the renewed area plan.
As part of this process, Himmerland wants to supplement public housing with new housing forms that can expand the housing on offer and attract brand new types of residents. In the next few years, a range of innovative senior homes with a focus on entrepreneurship are therefore being developed and built along Erhvervsstrøget, which forms a central part of the transformation of the Fyrkildevej residential area. This is Denmark’s first profile public housing community, which means it is tailored to people with special interests: in this case an interest in business and entrepreneurship.
Promoting a sense of community
The development of the homes took place as a collaboration between Himmerland housing community, Realdania and Aalborg Municipality and it is an example of how to fit new housing forms into existing public buildings and create attractive homes that promote a sense of community and add new life to a local area.
