Nygaarden
Office building with high environmental ambitions
Entra's new building, Nygaarden, marks the entrance to central Bergen from the south. The new building aims to create a new social hub in this part of the city and to revitalize flow and circulation in the area. The building won the Vestland City Award in 2023.
In the heart of Bergen's new business area
Nygården is an area under development, and the new business building plays an important role in urban development in Bergen. The area offers a mix of offices, housing, teaching, restaurants and commerce, and with several neighbors in the media and business segment, the building helps to shape Bergen's central business area.
The building's ground floor is open to the public with a café, restaurant and other social functions. The existing green structure has been continued by drawing the park feel from Nygårdsparken around the building, into the stair amphitheatre, through the building's inner atriums and out again towards Nygårdsgaten and the traffic hub.New urban meeting place in the terrain faces Nygårdsgaten with terrain stairs as urban furniture and accommodation.
Flexibility
The vision of the project has been to create good office premises that stand the test of time, so that future demands for technology, companies' need for change and network utilization are taken care of. The goal is to create attractive workplaces where resources can be used in the best possible way.
The client, Entra, has focused on developing light and airy areas with a high degree of flexibility, which allows for adaptation when needs change. A spacious atrium in the middle of the building not only provides light and airy office areas, but also good common areas where the employees will enjoy themselves.
Tenants and visitors have access to the building from two sides, which together create a generous passage through the building, with direct access to the building's atrium, and on to each individual office. Arrangements have been made for social interaction between tenants with several common functions and meeting rooms.
Environmental focus
The project is classified as BREEAM excellent, energy class A, passive house standard and seawater cooling. A decision has also been taken on how the building can be dismantled and how individual elements can be reused.
