When the law firm Kahn Pedersen moved to a new location, the goal was to create a modern office tailored to future ways of working while carrying over the firm’s history, identity, and culture. The result is a work environment offering magnificent views of the approach to Stockholm, where sustainability, functionality, and design come together in a carefully considered whole.
The project began with the existing interior. Thanks to its high quality and timeless aesthetic, much of the furniture and interior details could be reused and integrated into the new premises. The team carefully dismantled, refurbished, and revitalised wall panels, furniture, and custom millwork for a new context. This approach conserved resources while preserving a clear connection to the company’s history.
The assignment included developing the layout, material and colour schemes, lighting concepts, and furnishing plans. Great care was taken to create a flexible, space-efficient workplace where every part of the premises is utilised thoughtfully. Through smart solutions and careful choices, we created an environment that supports both daily work and the business's need for impressive meeting spaces.
A key ambition was to allow the existing and the new to interact naturally. We combined reused elements with new additions to create a cohesive whole characterised by high-quality materials and long-term sustainability. The result is an office that feels both familiar and new—a space where the company’s identity has been allowed to evolve rather than be replaced.
The project shows that reuse need not be a compromise; instead, it can drive excellent design. When quality, care, and a long-term perspective guide the process, sustainable solutions can create environments with strong character, high functionality, and enduring value.
