Kronstad Nursery
Modernising and creating a unifying school through reuse and renovation
Kronstad and Hunstad Schools have been completely renovated and are now connected by an enclosed footbridge that constitutes Kronstad Nursery. The school has room for 300 pupils from years 1 to 7, after-school care and a kindergarten for 80 children.
An important part of the process in the project has been to use the identity of the two different buildings from the 1950s and 1970s. Modernising and creating a unifying school – by making two schools into one – was also important. The fine qualities of the buildings have been taken forward, and the choice to reuse and renovate, rather than demolish, is an important route to achieving climate targets.
