State-of-the-art health centre in the north
The new Hammerfest hospital contains facilities for Finnmark Hospital, the health centre for Hammerfest municipality, as well as educational areas for health students.
The hospital has attractive and modern areas in a good location. The building's compact shape and atria provide a lot of daylight and contribute to certain climate protection against weather and wind. The quality of the building also enables a comprehensive, urban well-designed hospital, which houses something sensual, signals safety and care. The scale of the building structure relates to the surrounding buildings and varies between three and four floors
The main entrance leads to a large central atrium inside the building. Sightlines from the canteen areas on the south side of the building provide visual contact to the sea landscape from the main entrance. Visual contact is maintained throughout the building.
The hospital in Hammerfest, will be a sustainable, robust, modern, and attractive campus building with facilities for Finnmark Hospital, the health centre for Hammerfest municipality, and educational areas for health students.
The hospital's main functions are emergency department, wards, outpatient clinic, laboratories, imaging, surgery, intensive care, neonatal, child and adolescent function, integration of university facilities, rehabilitation function, research and teaching areas, and municipal health station with relief places and medical guard.
