Lojobacken
108 new homes in Stockholm's archipelago
In northern Lidingö, within Stockholm’s inner archipelago, we have designed new homes for just over 100 families who value nature, social environments, and light-filled living spaces. Lojobacken comprises five apartment buildings containing 102 apartments and 6 specialised care residences (LSS housing). The natural landscape of the site has been preserved as much as possible, and every detail has been carefully crafted to create a harmonious and secure living environment.
Elongated building volumes fan out into the landscape, with gable ends facing the street, creating an airy, nature-inspired atmosphere for residents and passersby. Despite the site's layout, all courtyards receive sunlight, while the stepped building heights create a pleasant scale within the streetscape. The facades are clad in light-coloured render and brick, echoing the colour palette of the surrounding vegetation.
The inviting courtyards between the buildings feature play areas, a barbecue spot, and planting beds. Along the street, visible bicycle storage rooms and stroller parking, a recycling room, and bright, clearly marked entrances contribute to a street environment that feels safe and socially sustainable.
