Kv Fregatten

With the Öresund Strait as a neighbour, and the heart of the city just a cycle ride away

In collaboration with 3Hus, we won a land allocation competition to create flats and terraced houses in the attractive Råå suburb of Helsingborg.

We are designing 60 flats, 14 terraced houses, one shop and an orangery, in an area covering 16,000 m2. Kv Fregatten will be a new part of Råå, with proximity to green areas, the sea and a historic village centre.

A living neighbourhood, full of variation

The ambition is to design buildings with a clear theme that create a whole but simultaneously allow variation to give life to the neighbourhood. For this dense urban environment, we are recommending multi-dwelling buildings along a busy road, with smaller-scale terraced housing facing the green area and Öresund. In the position with the most traffic exposure, the neighbourhood is anchored by a taller building intended for commercial activities.

Sustainable architecture

The homes are designed on the basis of the requirements for Miljöbyggnad Silver. These have included creating long-term sustainable solutions for surface water management. Climate-adapted architecture secures the building against the effects of future climate impact, given the area’s proximity to watercourses and relationship with the groundwater level.

The area is characterised by its green structures. The green internal courtyard will be an open and communal meeting place for the residents. The varied building heights provide good sunshine and light conditions, which are exploited both for allotment gardens and an orangery.
