Grorudparken
Urban park with straight lines
Grorudparken is one of four new city parks in Groruddalen. The park offers rooms for sports, play, recreation, socializing and cultural activities for a diverse population group.
The project has given the people of Oslo a continuous hiking and experience area from Lillomarka, via Grorudparken to Leirfossen and Hølaløkka. With the river and the water as the centre point, the task has been to integrate existing cultural monuments and individual objects in urban spaces along the river into an overall plan and to add new experiences in a holistic framework.
The accessibility and safety aspect has required a focus on lighting in outdoor spaces. In collaboration with ÅF Lighting, LINK Landskap has participated in developing a creative lighting concept that has added an extra dimension and identity to the park, in addition to safety. Cooperation with the agencies in Oslo municipality and the district has been a large part of the project. The cooperation has yielded good results.
Improving the water quality in Groruddammen through various measures for cleaning masses has been part of the project. As a pilot project in Norway, phytosanitation was applied. This is a system where vegetation will attract the toxins from contaminated masses and the soil is purified in a period of 2-3 years. This avoids strain on the environment in connection with the removal and sea transport of the masses to other places. Surface water from Trondheimsveien and adjacent areas has been treated in biological treatment plants before being led to the Alna River and Groruddammen. This significantly improves water quality.
LINK has had the assignment in landscape architecture for Oslo Municipality, the Water and Sewerage Authority.
