Gentle development of a cultural and historical district

The Veterinären district has experienced a gentle renovation, transforming old outbuildings into housing while new apartment buildings have been constructed. Great care has been taken with the details and color schemes, ensuring that all period features of the buildings are highlighted.

We are delighted by the positive response to this project. This clearly indicates that cultural history is important to many people. The outcome demonstrates that it is possible to strike a balance between modern needs and the preservation of historic neighbourhoods.

Old and New in Harmonious Unity

This project demonstrates how an area can be developed in a modern way while preserving its unique characteristics and history.

We have designed three new residential buildings and created conceptual sketches for the courtyard. The new buildings contain 22 rental apartments, thoughtfully designed to reflect the area's historical context in terms of size, location on the plot, materials, and colors. The buildings are primarily constructed of wood and consist of two 2.5-story structures and one 1.5-story structure. While the new buildings feature a modern aesthetic, they are rooted in the architectural traditions of the neighborhood and respect the beauty of the existing main buildings, in keeping with the customary design of old courtyard developments. Together with the renovated structures from the early 20th century, a cohesive blend of old and new is achieved.

Trädgårdsgatan 4, 6 & 8 received the Falköping Urban Planning Award in 2025, which honors valuable enhancements to urban and living environments.

Good architecture & Good building maintenance – In the courtyard of the Veterinären 22 property, the existing outbuildings have been carefully renovated and converted into housing, and new apartment buildings have been built. In harmony with the site's cultural and historical values , from building volumes to the colour scheme, new construction and renovation have been carried out in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
