Kilden Nursery is a state-of-the-art nursery that meets high standards for sustainability. The building is certificated as a Futurebuilt energy-plus building as well as BREEAM Excellent. The nursery offers innovative solutions and extensive use of solid wood, where reduction of greenhouse gases is a priority.
The aim was to create a nursery building where architecture, environmental ambitions and overall functionality would melt together.
The nursery has been built as an energy-plus building according to Futurebuilt’s definition: the building must produce excess energy of at least 2 kWh/m2 BRA per year. Using building materials with low CO2 emissions was a priority which is why a great deal of wood and solid wood has been involved in the project.
The project is certified as BREEAM-NOR excellent. As for greenhouse gas accounting, emissions from transport, energy and material use have been reduced by at least 50% compared to reference buildings. LINK worked in close partnership with energy and environmental experts to achieve the goal of an energy-efficient building with the lowest possible emission of greenhouse gases. Our vision was that architecture and the environment do not represent conflicting interests, but go hand in hand to create a holistic solution.
