The new five-story building features 47 rental apartments, each with one to three rooms and a kitchen. It is situated in a scenic area adjacent to one of Uppsala's most extensive forests and pleasant walking areas. Together with adjoining apartment buildings and townhouses, the wooden building forms a nice mix of existing and new.

Climate-neutral certified and made entirely of wood

The ambition to achieve climate neutrality has characterised the entire process from design to material selection. The goal was to achieve Zero CO2, one of the world's toughest sustainability certifications. In short, this means that all emissions generated during the project's production and operation must be kept as low as possible, and the remainder is offset by renewable energy. Plus, minus zero.

The architectural office has strived to optimise the building based on the choice of materials, technical systems and energy sources. An energy-efficient building, adapted to the topography and nature, is now in place. The building is built entirely of wood and has also been fitted with recycled windows. The design is based on the house's relationship to the sun, and both solar radiation and solar access are optimised for the courtyard and apartments, as well as solar energy on the roof. The new building draws inspiration from the countryside and derives its material expression from natural elements. The Mösseberg neighbourhood is characterised by the meeting between the city and nature, and the new design of the site is based on a recycling concept where materials and vegetation are preserved, reused or replanted.
