Future learning on the shores
Strandskolan, accommodating 350 students from grades F-6, is thoughtfully designed in a stunning setting beside the shores of Lake Bothnia.
Strandskolan is designed for future learning and pedagogy.
Teachers and students have views of greenery and the lake in both the classrooms and in their movement throughout the school, which we know contributes to well-being. Large windows in the learning environments provide real daylight and take advantage of the site's conditions, offering views of the lake.
The school is designed to achieve Miljöbyggnad Silver and is equipped with both a sedum roof and solar panels. The furniture has been carefully selected based on the environmental requirements within ADDA.
The site has required great care to take advantage of the environment and also provide views for those living in the area. We have worked on safety for both teachers and students, with adult presence and views into students' environments contributing to good cooperation and supervision. The site is quite windy at certain times of year, and we have been careful to create wind-protected areas in the schoolyard without losing sight of the outdoor environment.
