LINK arkitektur has been appointed by Danica Ejendomme og Steen og Strøm to take charge of the project, which involves the upcoming redevelopment of the Vestsjællandscentret shopping centre in Slagelse. The project includes extensive modernisation of the shopping centre. The interior of Vestsjællandscentret will be given a sweeping makeover.

In communal areas, new roof lights will be installed and the existing roof lights will be reconditioned and expanded to let much more daylight into the centre's shopping streets, with the aim of enhancing the quality of the shopping experience. In addition, all surfaces will undergo refurbishment, including the centre's floors and ceilings, and new, contemporary lighting will be installed throughout. New stores will be established at the centre, and a reduction of the area currently used by one of the centre's supermarkets will create a larger central plaza.

The new design of the central plaza will allow the staging of larger and more diverse events as entertainment for the different customer groups that visit the centre. Toilets, baby changing facilities and related facilities will undergo extensive refurbishment to include new interiors, tiles and bathroom fixtures, and the baby changing facilities will be extended to allow families to bring several children in with them.

Vestsjællandscentret's facades will also be given a facelift, focusing on the three entrances at Casinotorvet, Østerbro and Jernbanegade. There are plans for the establishment of a new café in the entrance area by Jernbanegade. The café will help connect the centre with the flow of passers-by. An improved design strategy was formulated ahead of the project.
