Haraldsplass Deaconess University Hospital

Haraldsplass Deaconess University Hospital (HDS) is a private, diaconal hospital owned by the Bergen Deaconess Foundation Home.

Our proposal places emphasis on creating a building that preserves the identity of Haraldsplass as it is today, and allows allowing the new building to be a natural part of a long development process whichprocess, which has occurred in stages, while we also facilitate a further development of the hospital.

The new building seeks to strengthen and clarify the key qualities of the site, such as the avenue, the "raised" position and the green hill facing the facility.

The new building has been given a prominent and elongated shape which , "floatings" above the ground, . whileAt at the same time, an effort was made to reduce the building's volume and dominance over the facility so that the allowing thedifferent building phasescan still be clearly discerned. to be discernible.

This was in order to obtain a financially favourable solution, and alsoand to preserve the hospital's heritage as an important feature of Årstad's identity.
