Government quarter Oslo - Design Competition
Spring 2017 is the next stage in the development of the governmental quarter; Norway’s largest construction project ever. Seven groups are chosen by Statsbygg to participate in the competition, including Team MAGNA consisting of LINK Architecture, Snøhetta, Multiconsult, Hjellnes Consult and Erichsen & Horgen. As part of team MAGNA Urban LINK is participating in the selected Design Competition directed by Statsbygg.
In May 2014 the government adopted the main concept for the future of Government quarter. The decision sets the overall framework and objectives for it to be built between Akersgata and Møllergata where all ministries except the Ministry of Defence will be co-located. In June 2016 Statsbygg completed the proposed plan for a new government quarter. Statsbygg arranged a selected, multidisciplinary design competition for the further development of Government quarter. The architectural devotion of TEAM MAGNA, LINK Architecture and Snøhetta act as equal partners both in competition and in the technical design phase. LINK Architecture has solid engineering experience in similar office buildings and Urban LINK will contribute with competence in urbanism for this project.
We look forward to working alongside Snøhetta in the phase of the competition to find environmental friendly solutions for our city and the buildings in Government quarter. Our motto is democracy, security and greatness, hence the name MAGNA. Sissel Engblom, head of Urban LINK is LINK Arkitekturs’ academic leader in this project.
