ANA 23 - Karolinska Institutet
Karolinska Institutet’s ambition is to create modern, cutting edge learning environments which attract both Swedish and international students. The bar has been set high, with Karolinska Institutet and LINK arkitektur pushing one another to greater heights in conceptualising a modern learning environment. The goal was to provide a broad range of functions, a variety of learning and study environments and an increased interaction between teachers and students.
ANA 23 is home to both informal and formal learning environments. In an attempt to bring about physical and visual contact we have opened up the building and introduced variation in the form of conceptual environments in which students and teachers can hold meetings, study and socialise. Karolinska Institutet requested “signature environments” which contrast in style and function from one floor of the building to another so as to encourage the students to make use of the whole building, meet with students from other institutions and remain on the campus throughout the whole of the school day.
The building has been given a new lease of life and now contributes to an atmosphere in which closer contact between teachers and students has become the norm.
